Traveling Man

I guess I didn’t realize how frustrated he was…

I don’t even remember what it was that didn’t go his way.

As I was making dinner, I did look out the sliding door in time to see him walk across the back with his guitar and his bag slung over his shoulder.

I walked out and suggested he might want to reconsider going out without letting anyone know.

In response to this, he turned and walked on.

So, of course I let his dad go out and follow him while I finished up inside.

I couldn’t help but grab a picture through the front window, because he did look terribly cute.

When he came in and went down to his room, I followed and talked with him while he unpacked his bag.

He said he was going to go on a big adventure all around the neighborhood and find a new home and a mama who said yes.

ahhhh.

It was really hard for me to be quiet…

As I watched him put away 75 shirts that he had jammed into his bag.

No underwear.

No bottoms of any kind.

Just a lot of shirts.

and his guitar.

Right.

Regular Comedian

Here is a funny joke to play on your family:

Install a new screen door (or an old screen door that you fixed).

Do not install a new door knob.

This creates very interesting moments.

It might even be considered an experiment on the human condition in your home.

Who figures it out.

Who stands and yells through the screen for someone to come and push the door open.

These kind of things.

I’m glad I didn’t find the 5/16 drill bit.

The garage is now clean (sort of).

All sorts of nice side effects.

These are the little moments that make me smile.

Prepare yourself!

View Image

Yesterday…

In the midst of a beautiful afternoon of playtime…

MC comes running towards me…

Carrying the tallest dandelion I have ever seen.

Over a foot, to be sure!

He yells, as he is approaching,

“PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THE TICKLER 3000!!”

MC and his word choice…

I imagine…

Will always give me reason to stop and reflect.

Horrorscope??

Zodiac Libra Clip Art

I get up.

I make coffee.

I read my horoscopes (yes, more than one…cross referencing you know?).

It is silly.

I know this.

If I like what they say, then of course they are brilliant.

If not, then I find an error and disregard.

Recently, I’m not sure what to think…

Yesterday I was told to avoid anything where I would need to focus, or be creative, or communicate clearly.

Today I was told to stay home because in my distracted state I might crash my car.

Who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Maybe I should pick up a pen and write my own damn horoscope while I have my coffee.

I could write yours too.

I will even consult the magic 8 ball app on my phone!

Hmmmm….better check back;)

Pile up!

Much traffic in my head.

Much to post…should be grading essays.

Ever the balance seeking libra…

I will make do with a list for now.

1. John Mayer’s most recent album is amazing and how can his voice just wrap all around me like that anyway?

2. There is quite a story that goes along with the trip to the barber shop and as expected my high maintenance MC has already requested to go back – hairs grew, you know?!

3. I knew boys were easier in the classroom, sometimes they are easier at home, and never again will I have a group on a field trip with my daughter’s class unless she is surrounded by fellas…gah!

4. Time takes care of most everything.

5. I believe, and so it is.

This is enough for now, I think.

amazing

How is a girl supposed to get anything done with such beauty a few short moments away?

Exactly!

Would you?

This does not work for me.

Do you remember Ally?

I loved her.

Loved the show.

So many scenes in this unisex bathroom.

No.thank.you.

Kind of freaks me out – eeeesh.

There is a p0int…

At one of my observation schools there is this restroom which seems to be a grown up restroom.

And there is a sign by the door that says, “warning! ladies use this restroom too!”

When you go in…there are multiple stalls.

There is a lock on the main door…it doesn’t seem appropriate though.

So

Twice, when I visited this school, I thought, “oh man!”

and then

I would tentatively peek in…all clear

rush…pee faster than I ever have before

quick (but thorough of course) hand washing and get the hell out of there!

Each time I thought of Ally McBeal.

Each time I thought it was quirky and amusing on TV but not so much really.

Are there places that do this?

Do you?

Would you?

Gah!

Oh boy! (otherwise known as the blue toile incident)

I like a challenge.

Good to have new adventures to keep me on my toes.

Some might think I make stuff up…

I do – but only the stuff that sounds like wise advice.

Kid stories?  Total gospel every.time.

We had friends over to play the other day.

Often the favorite thing is our dramatic play closet…cool.

Much giggling precedes a parade up to the porch to show an outfit.

MC  it seems…is all decked out in a blue toile dress…holding a baby in a matching dress.

This is adorable…my baby boy would make a beautiful girl, mohawk and all.

Here is the thing…he didn’t want to take it off…I asked…he said nope it was pretty comfortable.

Friends go home…now we are out front…MC is riding his dirt bike in the blue toile dress.

I think this is fine…it is just…there are these phrases coming out of my mouth that feel so odd…

“MC, put your dress down, you shouldn’t show your underwear.”

“BB, give MC the ribbon tie back for the dress.”

My kids get to be whom ever they are…period.

Society and rules and norms can take a jump…however…

Mr. Z was not cool with this.

not at all.

so

I say, “Hey MC, here’s the thing…some of the dramatic  play costumes aren’t very washable, so perhaps we should just wear them in the house?”

He says, “Oh man!  I didn’t know this was a costume, I thought it was CNN’s!  I wiped my nose on it Mom!”

I don’t really know where this little story goes from here.

The blue toile dress went in the laundry.

Show Up

CNN really loves going to church.

She loves the dresses, the music, the community…all of it.

And so, for Easter…for my daughter (and myself too I guess)…we went to church with friends.

CNN, BB and I headed for Westport to a pretty old church in the middle of midtown.

It is a very liberal spot.  The people there are lovely.

I am not certain if this is our place or not, but I thought it would be ok for this morning.

I was right.

Again and again, I am in the right place at the right time for the message I needed to hear.

I didn’t like it, not at first.  I thought, “I will not come here again.”

Then I began to listen, to think my response through…

It is the same response I have had to my yoga room these last few days.

I do not choose peace or quiet in my head so you can’t make me come in there, yoga room!

Silly girl.

Then I started to listen…about the sadness and fear and weakness of Jesus on Good Friday.

I heard the “rule” repeated more in the bible than any other…words I really need right now…be not afraid.

If you can do this…if you can believe…and release your fear…all is well…

and all will be well.

Just show up…ready…open…ready to let go of your fear.

wow.

May you feel the power of your every blessing this Easter Sunday.

I hope to lay down my fear so I am available to receive all that awaits.

Come on then!

Z Rise

“He is risen.”

“May the road rise up to meet you.”

A state of enlightenment.

“And still I rise.”

It is that time of year…

wake up…face to the sun…bloom…grow

breathe

give thanks.

No one can say it like Dr. Maya
